The Teesside Industrial Memories Project
Our small but very active society was formed in 2004 to collect personal recollections of working life in the now defunct heavy industries of Teesside, and to make them widely available both within the Tees Valley and beyond.
Our founder members had mostly worked at ICI Billingham, and this was our first major project, for which we obtained a substantial grant from the Heritage Lottery Foundation. As this project neared completion, the last vestiges of ICI presence on Teesside were withdrawn, making our activities all the more relevant. We now have the expertise and equipment to move on to other projects, not necessarily on the same scale.
